Last updated 24 October 2026

Pip Job Search is a desktop app for Mac and Windows that helps you find jobs and write applications. This page explains what happens to your information when you use the app and this website.

The app keeps your information on your computer

Your profile, CVs, cover letters, the jobs it finds and your application history are saved in a folder on your own computer (normally Documents › Job Search). There is no Pip Job Search account and no Pip Job Search server: we never receive or store this information.

The app does not include analytics or tracking, and does not show ads.

The AI service you connect

To read job postings and write your documents, the app uses an AI service you sign in to yourself: Claude (from Anthropic) or ChatGPT through Codex (from OpenAI). When it does, the information needed for that task, such as your profile and the job posting, is sent to that service under your own account and handled under its privacy policy: Anthropic, OpenAI. The app never sees your password for these services.

Job boards and email

To find jobs, the app searches public job boards (such as LinkedIn) and company careers pages, the same way your browser would. If you choose to connect Gmail to Claude, the app can read replies from employers through that connection to suggest status updates, and asks you before changing anything. You can disconnect it at any time in your Claude settings.

Updates

The version downloaded from this website checks GitHub for newer versions. That check sends no personal information. The Microsoft Store version is updated by the Store.

This website

This website counts visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not identify you. When you click a download button we record the day, whether it was the Mac or Windows version, your country (from your network address, which we do not store), the website that sent you here, and whether it was your first download from that browser, using a small cookie that says only that. We use these numbers to know how many people download the app.

Deleting your information

Everything the app saves is in your job search folder and in the app's own settings folder on your computer; deleting them, or uninstalling the app, removes it. Information you sent to Claude or ChatGPT is managed in your account with Anthropic or OpenAI.
